The Journey

The Journey
A process of spiritual formation in preparation
for the sacrament of baptism and baptismal renewal.

The life of faith is not about merely knowing the right answers. It’s about learning to pattern our lives after the example of Jesus Christ. To welcome newcomers into our community of faith, New Hope offers a process of spiritual formation called The Journey, adapted from the practice of the early church, to prepare individuals either to receive the sacrament of baptism or, if previously baptized,
to affirm and renew the covenant of baptism.

Faith is not a straight line, but a circuitous path often filled with more questions than answers. The Journey is deeply invitational, hospitable, formational, and attentive to those seeking a church community through which to explore the questions and doubts that faith always seems to bring.

Come and See...a time to receive hospitality, ask questions about the Christian faith, honor doubt, and consider being a part of our community.

Come and Explore...a time to experience prayer, reflect on                                                scripture and engage in mission and ministry alongside others.

Come and Prepare...a time to explore the core teachings of the Christian faith and ready oneself to receive the sacrament of baptism or to renew one’s baptism.

Come and Serve...a time to consider how to live most fully                                               in the light of one’s baptism, considering one’s own gifts                                                   and calling to be God’s hands and feet in the world.
