In 2018, when New Hope made its maiden voyage into gardening by starting the New Hope Earth Care Garden, little did we know that we would deliver almost half a ton (yep, 1000 pounds) of produce to the OASIS Food Pantry over the last four years!! We have certainly been fortunate to have dedicated gardeners who have kept it running.
But, we need your help, too. Can we interest you in using your gifts to get the Earth Care Garden up and running for this year? We need people to lay down landscape fabric and secure it. We also need people who can plant tomato plants and marigolds. There will also be zucchini and dill seeds to plant. Here’s hoping we can have all this done by May 7th.
Then, we will need people to water and others to do a little weeding, as necessary. Once the plants mature, we’ll need people to harvest the “crops” and others to deliver the produce to the OASIS Food Pantry. All these jobs will be ongoing throughout the summer; but if many people volunteer, it’s not a whole lot of work.
Who should volunteer? Anyone from 5 to 95 who enjoys digging in the dirt, loves seeing things grow, and who appreciates how God has given us this wonderful opportunity to help others! Call Bill or Ruth Irvine (636-300-1573) or email ruthlirvine@gmail.com if you have questions or would like to volunteer your time.
