PENTECOST FESTIVAL
Dear New Hope Friends,
Get your Sunday best red clothing out!! On Pentecost Sunday, May 15, at 9:30 am, New Hope’s second Church Family Gathering for 2016 will take place between Worship Services to celebrate the Birthday of the Church - Pentecost! You and your family are invited! The Church Family Gathering will give us a chance for all ages and generations to come together Pentecost Sunday. Here is the schedule for that morning:
8:45 am - Early Worship Service
9:30 am - On the upper level, the Pentecost Festival Church Family Gathering will feature storytelling, five interactive Holy Spirit inspired project centers and of course, special Pentecost celebration food treats! (No Sunday School classes will be held.) New Hope Families are asked to begin the Pentecost Festival CFG in the Sanctuary for the “Intergenerational Gathering Time”. Weather permitting, part of the CGF Pentecost Festival will be held outside on the circle drive.
11:00 am – Late Worship Service
As you can imagine the Pentecost Festival Church Family Gathering event is a large project which involves many hands! For the Pentecost birthday treats, we are calling for volunteers to bake plain cupcakes and plain Dove sugar cookies. Volunteer bakers will be provided with red cupcake papers and/or dove shaped cookie cutters. The church will be offering coffee, juice, fruit and cheese platters, and gluten free and sugar free baked goodies. To assist the planning team in their food purchase, please return the enclosed Church Family Gathering RSVP card to the offering basket or church office by May 12 Thank you!
There are many other ways folks can help out too! This Sunday there will be signup sheets in the Narthex for volunteers to help bake, man the interactive festival centers, serve at the food and drink area, kitchen clean up, and table and chair tear down. If you have the gift of language, we are looking for friends who speaks a foreign language to be a part of the storytelling segment. For more information check out the CFG table in the Narthex.
It is hoped, through a variety of experiences of sight, sound, and hands-on activities, the Pentecost Festival Church Family Gathering will honor God’s great gift of the Holy Spirit to all of us! We hope you and your family will be able to join the larger New Hope Church Family to celebrate together Pentecost Sunday on May 15. Don’t forget to wear your red!!!
Peace,
The Church Family Gathering Team
